51. The Rapture - Get Myself Into It
52. The Similou - All This Love
53. Rinôçérôse - Cubicle
54. Arctic Monkeys - Fake Tales Of San Francisco
55. Beck - Nausea
56. Taking Back Sunday - Twenty Twenty Surgery
57. Thom Yorke - And It Rained All Night
58. Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah
59. The Strokes - Heart In A Cage
60. OK Go - Here It Goes Again
61. Motion City Soundtrack - Everything is Alright
62. Junkie XL - Today
63. Panic! At The Disco - The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage
64. The Matches - You (Don't) Know Me
65. Something With Numbers - Apple Of The Eye
66. Muse - Exo-Politics
67. Rhubarb - The City Life
68. The Living End - Long Live The Weekend
69. Starky - Is This How It Ends?
70. Death From Above 1979 - Blood on Our Hands
71. Evermore - Afloat
72. Sparta - Untreatable Disease
73. Jet - Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
74. Little Birdy - After Dark
75. The Mars Volta - Tetragrammaton

Aloha! A few more notes:

  • Tetragrammaton, like The Mars Volta themselves, could be construed as 15-plus minutes of genius...or 15-plus minutes of wank. Your call.
  • In Sparta's Untreatable Disease, the screaming chorus of "You were right" just plain rules.
  • The Matches' You (Don't) Know Me was quite a find: never before have I heard the stylings of punk and The B-52s collide so well...or at all.
  • I am slightly embarrassed to include the Eurovision winner, Hard Rock Hallelujah, at number 58 but I did listen to it a lot mid-year and it's still listenable.
  • At the very top of this group of 25, we've reached the songs that I played obsessively.

I think Mardy Bum is better than Fake Tales of San Francisco.
You've also got Afloat, which surprises me, because frankly real life didnt throw much up in the way of music apart from Running (which I'm guessing must be pretty high).

Starky's Is This How It Ends is in this list as well - I think Friction is better. I'm calling that Hey Bang Bang its gonna be high as well.

Nice list btw, good to listen to.

I would like to see Keane - Leaving So Soon? up there. Be interesting to see where you place some of Eskimo Joes other stuff, considering you put in Sarah

1. More Arctic Monkeys to come, although Mardy Bum missed out. Call it preferential treatment to the singles if you like, they simply get played more.

2. The reason why I loved Afloat is because it was a darker moment on Real Life, more reminiscent of their classic first offering Dreams, in an album full of sugar-coated happy spins. I've found another track apart from Running too, but you'll only have to wait some 5 hours to find out anyway.

3. Is This How It Ends has just got a strong rhythm to start. It was one of the last ones on the album I really got into - I recommend you give it a few more spins. Unfortunately, I have to credit ads for the OC for encouraging me.

4. You couldn't be more wrong about Hey Bang Bang. More explanation in a later post.

5. I'm gonna add Leaving So Soon into my rotation. You're the Keane man!

Is This How It Ends has been added to the playlist.

The other Evermore songs are Light Surrounding You, The Great Unknown and My Guiding Light. I'd say My Guiding Light, because Light Surrounding You is a bit meh, and Great Unknown is a bit same-ish.

For Arctic Monkeys, it's a tough one as their songs are pretty good but nothing stands out a lot. I'd guess From the Ritz to the Rubble or I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor.

I forgot Youth Group and Forever Young (although I prefer Lillian Lies) and Max500 by Kent (unsure of year though), maybe something from the Futureheads (First Day) or Kaiser Chiefs (I Predict a Riot)

Evermore: swing and a miss, but your theory isn't bad, as they'd be my next three favourites!

I excluded anything off Youth Group's Shadowland, Futureheads' self-titled or Kaiser Chiefs, as I'd heard them last year.

But I should add that the Futureheads News And Tributes is eligible.

"Tetragrammaton" is my favourite song off Amputechture, I'm glad to see it make it into your list! It does lose it's way towards the end a bit, but then that's what TMV are all about I suppose!
