Madmen of Hockey
Tuesday, October 24, 2006
Bonjour, monsieurs et mesdames! NHL 2k7 for the Xbox 360 is out and Josh is knee deep in it. So much so he's writing these. It's a class act (can you say "tickling the twine"?) and he loves hockey.
It takes a certain kind of man in this country to love ice hockey, or to love ice hockey video games obsessively. Well it takes a certain kind of madman to write about a fictional game that only you see. Count me down as that kind of madman.
It was about this time last Jacques Chirac-tober that I stopped writing for my Florida Panthers dynasty. Seriously, I played the games and then made those report thingees for 1 person + a bunch of total strangers to read.
If that's not lame enough (which it is), the total strangers there believe that HTML is the be-all and end-all of quality reporting. Unfortunately none of them understand that if I wanted to use heaps of HTML, I'd post it on my own fucking site!
I just love hockey and American football commentary. They have like a set of 100 phrases and emphasise the crap out of each word when they pull 'em out.
While I'm talking hockey, I saw the San Jose Sharks v Detroit Red Wings game on Fox Sports 3 last week. 5-1 Sharks, baby! I'm tipping them for the Stanley Cup, such is my respect for the GM, coach, big Joe Thornton and their incredible depth. Plus a good thrashing of the Wings always puts a team in my good book. Old habits die hard, eh?

Ack. You exposed my piss-poor ramblings of a hockey videogame to your little corner of the blogosphere (yay buzzword).
In my defense, I haven't seen a game of hockey in almost 18 months, so I'm seriously deprived. The pixels are starting to look more real than people on the street i tells ya.
Gotta get back into blogging. I really have nothing to say though...
Wow, I had no idea how much people invest in their virtual dynasties! I can't say I'm surprised though.
American commentary actually confused me quite a bit when I started listening to NHL Radio. Whenever the puck went within cooee of the goalie the Sabres' play-by-play announcer sounded like he was going to have a coronary. I thought we were gonna score about a dozen times before I figured out what was going on... but now I absolutely love listening to the radio commentary instead of downloading the NHL/TSN coverage, which has pretty bland calling by comparison.
My picks are Anaheim and Buffalo in the finals, with my Sabres to pull it all together for the Cup win. Go Donald Trumps!
bah
Red Wings own j00!
sorry.... i dont really have much to say at all really
just yay for hockey
Donald Trumps, that's classic!
