You thought Australia was a non-hockey country? Try Puerto Rico! They're getting a pre-season NHL game this September. It's odd considering there's no hockey programs there, which at least we have Down Under. And I want no burning of Puerto Rican flags! Or blaming anything on "some Puerto Rican guy"!
It's still not the dumbest thing for a sporting league to try. Last year, the NFL set a new single regular season game attendance record in Mexico, with over 100,000 turning up to see what probably would have been another forgettable Arizona Cardinals game. They really need a guy like Cuba Gooding Jr's character (who played for the Cards) in Jerry Maguire.
Still, I guess Mexico does have an NFL background. They've been providing players to the NFL for years. All of them: kickers. Which is of course, truly America's most coveted football position. Not.

The kicker would be the position with the most imported players - like Australians as well as Mexicans
Exactly right. Australians are punters, Mexicans and many Europeans (massive Germans on the offensive line excluded) are kickers because they're "soccer countries".
