This name change was brought to you by the new Accord

First the Mighty Ducks change their name to the Anaheim Ducks, now the stadium gets a name swap. In this age of the blander named stadiums, arenas and "centers", I liked their old stadium's name of "Arrowhead Pond". While the Ducks organisation might refer to the new name as the Honda Center, I'll "keep it real" by calling it the "Honda Ponda". Props to Josh.

It's still got nothin' over the Nashville Predators' home though: the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

How soon until there's a Maxi Tampon Stadium, as foreseen in the masterpiece that is Baseketball?

Yeah the Arrowhead Pond was my favourite stadium name in the NHL, closely followed by Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh (it kinda looks like a melon... teehee), although I like its nickname of The Igloo better than its actual name. The Saddledome in Calgary is also pretty cool, but that's mostly because I just love the look of the stadium... not much to do with the name itself.

The HP Pavilion in San Jose is another awesomely creative stadium name, but until last season I had no idea that was its actual name. I just called it the Shark Tank.

It will be sad to see the Pond and Gaylord Arena go... but I'm sure another marketing director at a company with a potentially amusing name will come up with some kind of punny arena name in the future.

And the Pyramid Arena rules. Using Geometry, we could have the "Shell Oblong" or the "Domino's Prism"...

Whoa, Pyramid Arena is awesome! Why would you move to another stadium when you've got one as bitchin' as that?! Stupid Grizzlies.
